After two very successful trade fair appearances - Agritechnica and Fruit Logistica - ASA AUTOMATION is now also presenting its pick & place robot cell at Anuga FoodTec 2024. 

The centrepiece is a robotic picker cell that handles the product handling of 2-kilo CarryFresh bags filled with potatoes.

The application was originally developed and realised explicitly for Agritechnica. This is because innovative automation solutions will also play a decisive role in agriculture in the future and ASA AUTOMATION is sending out a clear signal in this development. Agriculture is currently developing rapidly into an important area of automation. The integration of new technologies promises greater efficiency and productivity in the future, while at the same time reducing labour costs. Experts are therefore forecasting significant growth in the use of precision farming, autonomous vehicles and other automated systems in the near future.

Due to the very high level of visitor interest, Anuga FoodTec is now returning to Cologne.

Pick & Place

In collaboration with the international partner S&B Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH, part of the Sorma Group, ASA Automation presents an innovative picking cell that handles the product handling of 2-kilogram CarryFresh bags filled with potatoes.

The demonstration includes the picking up, grouping, and placing of the bags using an LR-Mate 200iD robot from Fanuc. Product position recognition is achieved through a 3DV/1600 sensor. The product handling is carried out by a soft gripper specially developed by ASA Automation for handling potato sacks. The robot receives the exact position for picking up the bags via the 3DV sensor in combination with the encoder attached to the conveyor belt.

The system is equipped with two different handling programs. Program 1: Placing the bags in 40 x 60 cm folding crates (8 bags/crate), and Program 2: Grouping the bags on another conveyor belt (e.g., 3 bags side by side and 3 bags behind each other).
